Wild for Taranaki

Wild for Taranaki is the identity of the Taranaki Biodiversity Trust (TBT). The QEII National Trust is one of the original signatories to the Taranaki Biodiversity Accord which was established in 2015 by 19 groups and organisations involved in the protection of native plants, animals and ecosystems in Taranaki. Other agencies involved include Federated Farmers, DOC, regional councils, Forst and Bird, Fish and Game, Waikato University Research institute and several trusts.

Wild for Taranaki's goals are to:

  • raise the profile of biodiversity in the community
  • support the work already being done by individuals, community groups and organisations
  • engage with all groups with an interest in protecting Taranaki's environment
  • encourage people to get involved
  • foster collaboration
  • develop new projects
  • raise funds to support this work

Wild for Taranaki administers the Community Biodiversity Fund, a funding pool available for biodiversity projects that support the Trust’s ecological priorities.
