Waitata Bay in Northland: Coastal open space protected in perpetuity

Waitata Bay in NorthlandNear Russell in Northland, Antonio Pasquale and Stefania Muraro are protecting the entire catchment of Waitata Bay in perpetuity with QEII open space covenants.

The regenerating coastal forest and shrubland is habitat for North Island brown kiwi and weka.

Antonio Pasquale explained the significant biodiversity and conservation values of the Waitata Bay covenants to QEII directors in July 2007.
